Play a co-op puzzle game with two players
Two people, two screens and one arrangement to fix. Placepanic is a free online co-op puzzle game where the Operator can move the objects but cannot see the answer. The Guide sees the secret plan and has to explain it. You win or run out of time together.
This guide is for two friends or partners playing from separate devices, whether you are across a table or in different homes. Both roles take part in the same puzzle; neither player is just watching.
Set up a room for two
Open Placepanic and choose Create room. Enter a display name, then copy the invitation link from the lobby. Send it to the other player. They open the link on their own phone, tablet or computer, enter a name and join your room.
The host can start once both players are connected. Choose Classic and three rounds for your first session so you can learn the controls and try both roles. You can choose a longer session or Chaos later. No account or download is required.
Player one moves; player two guides
The Operator selects and drags objects on the live board. Movement and rotation buttons are available after selecting an object; on a keyboard, use the arrow keys to move and Q or E to rotate. The target arrangement stays hidden from the Operator during the round.
The Guide sees both the target arrangement and the Operator’s live board. Pick the object you mean before sending a quick instruction, or use the room chat to explain its destination. A ping can point to a place on the board. You can use those built-in controls without a microphone, or talk over a separate call.
Try one clear instruction at a time
Suppose the target puts a duck near the top-left corner, facing right. Start with the object: “Duck.” Next give the destination: “Near the top-left corner.” Once the Operator has moved it, describe the rotation: “Turn its beak right.” These are example directions, not the solution to every round.
Compare the live board with the target before adding another instruction. Say “a little farther left” only after both of you know which object you mean. When two objects share a kind, use the matching labels shown on both boards.
Swap roles and compare the result
A round ends when you complete the arrangement or the clock expires. Both players then see the target and the finished board. Check which directions helped and which were ambiguous before the next round starts.
The Operator changes between rounds, so each of you gets a turn moving and guiding. The score belongs to the team. Choose more than one round if you want to experience both jobs in the same session.
Keep the two screens separate
Each role needs its own browser screen. Placepanic has no split-screen or shared-keyboard two-player mode. If you sit together, position your devices so the Operator cannot look at the Guide’s plan. If you play remotely, avoid sharing the target screen during the round.
Share your invitation with the person you want to play with. A private room is joined through its link or code; it is not a public matchmaking queue.
Questions before you play
Can couples play Placepanic online?
Yes. Two partners can play as an Operator and a Guide, on the same team, from separate browser screens. It is a communication puzzle rather than a game of romantic questions or relationship prompts.
Can we play from different homes?
Yes. Join the same private room over the internet. Each player can use a phone, tablet or computer, and the room has text chat, quick instructions and pings.
Does one of us need to buy the game?
No. Both players can play free without an account or download. Optional advertising and Ko-fi support are separate from starting or completing a game.
Can we play on one computer with one keyboard?
There is no shared-keyboard mode. Multiplayer gives the two roles different information and is designed for separate browser screens. Solo Dispatch and the daily memory puzzle are available for one player.
Can I practise before my partner joins?
Yes. Solo Dispatch lets you practise moving and rotating objects by following written orders. Return to the homepage to create your room when both of you are ready.
